Kamal Haasan Celebrates Children’s Day With Disabled Children

“My association with this school began almost 37 years ago,” said Kamal Haasan at the Little Flower Convent for Deaf and Dumb. The actor was at the school to celebrate Children’s Day with children with disabilities.cReminiscing about his Rajaparvai days, Kamal said, “When Ilaiyaraja and I came here for the first time, as part of the movie, the kids had a surprise planned for us. They hid in a classroom and came out to surprise us.”
The actor confessed to having got emotional after this. “I still can’t forget the experience,” he said, adding that he considered the sisters who ran the institution as surrogate mothers.
Talking about the children who presented a dance performance, he said, “I was a dance assistant myself. I know how hard it is for a person, even without a disability, to match steps to the rhythm. Despite their special conditions, they still managed to do that. I’d like to congratulate the kids, and also the teachers who trained them.”
